Cabinet approval has been granted to hand over the construction of the Expressway from Athurugiriya Inter-change of the Roundabout Expressway to the new Kelani Bridge via Rajagiriya to the China Harbour Engineering Corporation, said Cabinet Spokesman Udaya Gammanpila, speaking to the press briefing held in announcing the Cabinet decisions today (25th of May).
Accordingly, the Chinese company has been given the approval to handle the construction for a period of three years and the ownership of the road for a period of fifteen years for the settlement of expenses, concluding 18 years of ownership overall.
Gammanpila revealed that the China Harbour Engineering Corporation has dispensed an attractive bid upon the calling of bids.
