1st technology city park to be established in Galle

In line with President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa’s Vision of Prosperity policy, the first phase of the creation of new technological city parks with state-of-the-art technology facilities that will create thousands of job opportunities in the IT sector is set to be established at the Walahanduwa Estate in Galle.

Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs and State Minister of Digital Infrastructure Namal Rajapaksa, Minister of Plantation Ramesh Pathirana, State Minister Mohan P. de Silva and a number of government officials participated in the preparation of the preliminary plans for this program

Preliminary work on the technology city park is scheduled to begin in July, and after the completion of the first phase, it is planned to create 500 related jobs in the technology and computer sector in the short term and at least 2,000 jobs in the medium term.

Several companies have already expressed interest in investing in this technology city park which will have all the common amenities, 5G technology and state-of-the-art infrastructure. A large number of youth in the Galle District educated in the IT sector will benefit from the Technology Park.
