1,353 people were arrested on Saturday (12th of June), for the violation of Quarantine rules and regulations.
Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said that this is the highest number of people arrested in 24 hours for the violation of Quarantine rules and regulations in Sri Lanka.
A total of 31,395 people were arrested for the aforementioned offenses since the 30th of October 2020, he added.
In addition, Sri Lanka Police used drones to monitor the implementation of quarantine laws in Colombo.
5,268 people inspected by Police Officers manning 14 road-blocks at the Entry & Exit points of the Western Province on Saturday (12th of June), said the Police Spokesperson. 188 of them were admonished to ordered to turn back as they attempted to cross the provincial border, he added.
Sri Lanka Police urged the general public to inform them about any party or gathering taking place in violation of the quarantine rules and regulations.
