South Asia’s largest meat processing factory launched today

One of the largest meat processing factories in South Asia was opened today (13th Dec) at the Katunayake Investment Promotion Zone (IPZ) which is owned by a local businessman with an investment of Rs.1.5 billion.The factory is located on a three-acre land in IPZ at Katunayake. 

The factory is established aiming to meet the 10% of international market requirement for meat-related products.

The factory would provide 300 job opportunities and aiming to produce meat products including local traditional food varieties with high quality and targets to export its products to the Maldives, Middle East Countries and India.

Several Parliamentarians including Namal Rajapaksa, Shasheendra Rajapaksa, Kanchana Wijesekera, D.V Chanaka, Arundika Fernando and Siripala Gampalth  participated at the opening ceremony.
