Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa answered to President’s speech

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa today condemned President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s speech yesterday(09th Jan) in which the President was responding to a speech made by MP Harin Fernando in Parliament.

The opposition leader stressed that he sees the President’s ‘strong’ response as a serious statement which should not happen in a democratic country.

“We don’t have any issue with the Death of Prabhakaran, who killed thousands of people in this country including my father. Prabhakaran is a terrorist and murderer, Harin Fernando is a young leader of this country who expressed himself fearlessly within the democratic frame of this country.” He said.

The opposition leader went on to say that he sees this ‘threat’ to Harin Fernando as a threat to the entire parliamentary group of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya. He also emphasized that the President and the Government should take responsibility if any sort of harm is caused to MP Harin Fernando, media sources reported.
