Mandatory cremation to be continued

Director General of Health Services Dr Asela Gunawardene has informed the Galle police to act according to the circular government issued on the dead body that the Galle magistrate court had ordered to keep until government reach a final decision on burials.

DG Health Services has asked police to inform the magistrate about the instructions he had given and dispose the dead body accordingly mentioned from a letter to Galle police station.

Dr Gunawardene also sent a separate clarification to all hospital authorities regarding his letter to the justice minister, Ali Sabry and said that it has no effect on mandatory cremation applied for COVID 19 victims.

He illuminated the letter he sent to minister Sabry was a communication related to storing unclaimed dead bodies and disposal of dead bodies related to COVID 19 is the cremation.
