Maharagama Police Sergeant arrested for bribery

A sergeant of the Maharagama Police has been arrested by the Bribery and Corruption Commission for accepting a bribe of Rs. 20,000. Director of the Investigation Division SSP Padmini Weerasuriya stated that the bribe was demanded to release a cab belonging to a Canadian national in the custody of the Maharagama Police. He was arrested while accepting the bribe in Maharagama. The suspect is to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court today (04th March)
