Land from Dambulla Vihara to build a complete new hospital

A 5 acre land belonging to the historic Rangiri Dambulla Rajamaha Viharaya was handed over to the government for the construction of a complete new hospital in Dambulla.

At the request of Mr. Janaka Bandara Tennakoon, he decided to donate this valuable land belonging to the Dambulla Rajamaha Viharaya to the hospital at a time when the hospital in the center of Dambulla was in a difficult situation due to insufficient space, Ambalagaswewa Rahula Thero, the Deputy Chief Sanghanayake of the Matale District say.

The Minister first visited the Thera and accompanied him to inspect the site near the Dambulla Temple. He said that steps would be taken to build a national hospital at this location after discussions with the Prime Minister and Health Minister Pavithra.


The Minister said that necessary steps will be taken to acquire the central site where the Dambulla Hospital is currently located for any commercial or other purpose in the future.
