Farmers in Walsapugala in Hambantota are engaged in a fast unto death protest for the 3rd consecutive day today(22nd Jan).
They had launched a protest on Monday (18th Jan) and had thereafter commenced a fast unto death protest yesterday (20th Jan). The farmers are demanding solutions to the human-elephant conflict (HEC) in the area.
They have also called for the proposed Wild Elephant Reserve in Hambantota to be included in the Government Gazette.
