Driver punished for chasing wild elephant in Yala National Park

The driver of the safari jeep that had been chased by a wild elephant at the Yala National Park recently, has been produced in Court.

Video footage shared on social media recently showed the jeep closely trailing the elephant named “Sando”.

The elephant is thereafter seen chasing the jeep, following which the driver manages to reverse a long distance, narrowly escaping an attack.

The driver of the jeep has been identified and arrested for reckless behavior, and was produced in court.

The Court has imposed a fine of Rs. 20,000 on the driver of the safari jeep.
