COVID vaccine will available in Sri Lanka by next mid year!

Chief Epidemiologist of the Health Ministry Dr. Sudath Samaraweera said that, Sri Lanka will most probably be able to receive COVID-19 vaccines by next mid year. However, he noticed that Sri Lanka will face for some problems when the storing procedure of the vaccine under the required temperature.

“The COVID-19 vaccine approved in the UK is currently being used by being placed in significantly cool temperature. Sri Lanka at present does not have that facility. No vaccine has been approved worldwide as yet with regard to the virus,” Dr. Samaraweera said.

Until approved by the World Health Organization(WHO), Sri Lanka will not obtain any COVID-19 vaccine said the chief Epidemiologist, Dr.Samaweera.He further warned that despite isolation being lifted in some areas, the public must restrict unnecessary travel as corona virus patients are continuing to be detected in such areas despite the easing of restrictions.
