An inquiry was launched with regard to the registration of 700 vehicles in Sri Lanka using fake documents, said State Minister Dilum Amunugama.
The State Minister of Vehicle Regulation speaking to News 1st said the relevant information was forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Department. He said unknown people have accessed the registration system and fabricated documents in a manner to evade detection.
However, the State Minister said that, the officers are responsible for changing data in the system will be traced and necessary action will be taken.
He said also those involved in such malpractices sell the vehicles with fake documents, and currently, the vehicles are in the possession of unsuspecting buyers.
